Emerging from Yorkshire in 1997, Plusnet has gone from a small independent ISP, to a subsidiary of the giant that is BT. Seen as a budget provider, they specialise in fair priced fixed line, mobile, standard and fibre broadband services. Most notably, Plusnet now offer a range of contract lengths, with 12, 18 and a ‘no contract’ option available.

Plusnet provide three broadband products. The following are based on an 18 month contract. You can also select a 12 month contract (subject to different costings), and the 10mb Unlimited Broadband is also available without contract (see comparison table above). All products include the cost of line rental:

And the Kit?

All broadband services from the Plusnet are supplied with a free WIFI router (worth £40.00). The one-off delivery charge is included in the listed set-up fee. Packages also include free online access to SafeGuard. This tool kit helps you protect your family and devices from inappropriate and harmful content.

How long is a Plusnet broadband contract?

Two options are currently available for Fibre Broadband; 12 or 18 months. Customers have a choice of three contract lengths when taking standard 17mb broadband; no contract, 12 month and 18 month. Generally, the longer the contract the less you pay upfront and per month.

How long does it take to get Plusnet broadband installed?

The company states that installation/switching normally takes between 10-12 working days, with services activated the same day.

How fast are Plusnet broadband speeds?

The maximum speed you can expect from Plusnet services is up to 76mb. This top speed is only available with their ‘Unlimited Fibre Extra’ package. The actual speed you will receive, does depend on your locality to the nearest telephone exchange.

What Broadband limits are there on usage?

No limits on downloads or streaming. No traffic management system, meaning no slowing down at peak times.
